Presses and Notching Machines for Lamination

The Press and Notching Machine division at Galbiati Group is specialized in the design and construction of high speed presses and notching machines. It is dedicated to blanking and notching of magnetic laminations to produce rotors and stators for electric motors. Experience, production capability, and professionalism supported by a highly-specialized machine shop allow Galbiati to build high-precision, reliable machines.

EP3 and EP4 Presses

The presses in the EP series are designed to provide increased energy while operating at higher speeds, as required by modern blanking technology as well as in all applications where high speed presses are typically used. At the same time, deflection is reduced, even when large bolster plates are employed.

EP presses offer maximum performance for high-speed blanking applications over a capacity range from 250 to 650 tons. The advantages of the EP presses result in longer service life for the very expensive hard metal tooling that are normally used in applications like blanking of magnetic laminations. Each single component of the press, from the rugged press bed to the over-sized flywheel, from the large connecting rods to the cast iron slide, contribute to the strength of a machine designed for heavy duty use for many years.

The clutch/brake unit is hydraulic, equipped with its own hydraulic power pack and dual clutch valve to control and maintain the operating pressure.

Notching Machines

Galbiati notching machines are designed for applications in the electric machine industry for the production of stator and rotor laminations by notching single or multiple slot patterns. Ideal for the production of laminations in applications that do not require high volume lots (including prototypes), or for large diameter laminations (for example, wind turbine generators), replacing traditional mechanical presses for progressive or compound blanking.

The notching machines can cover a large range of diameters and working cycles by adjusting the spindle/slide unit on the fixed frame, adapting it to the size of the blank to be machined.

  • The Galbiati case is still school: the case history of the Group

The Galbiati case is still school: following the event of the last July 8th 2011 it was now the venue for the 21 Assiot affiliates whose Galbiati case history was presented, in cooperation with Staufen, on Friday October 28th 2011. Optimization of production and lean production were the issues covered during the event, both on a theoretical and academic point of view thanks to the great presentation of Dott. Giancarlo Oriani, managing director of Staufen Italia, and on a practical one, through the visit to the facility by all Assiot affiliates (mechanical workshop and assembly department).
