Pinch Roll – Motorized press rollers for rolling mills
Galbiati Group has recently realized a pinch roll weighing about 70 tons, addressed to the Arcelormittal facility of Harbour West Indian Harbour, suburb of Chicago, Usa.
Pinch Roll
It’s defined as “Pinch roll”, a machine equipped with motorized cylinder/ rollers and spaced appropriately for the entrance and the resulting drag and motion of hot metal to the winder.
The pinch roll is inserted into a hot-rolling line for steel sheets. The pinch roll is inserted into a hot-rolling line for steel sheets. The pressure of cylinders or rolls is achieved by the means of high pressure (250 Bars) hydraulic systems. A pair of mounted levers moved by hydraulic systems on the pinch roll allows the rotation of the upper cylinder/roller.

In this case, the pinch roll produced at the Galbiati workshops and ordered by Siemens USA, was realized in a strong agreement with the customer.
Hydraulic and pneumatic connections were realized with stain less steel pipes.
The testing, with the presence of Siemens USA inspectors together with the maintenance and production heads of Arcelormittal, was carried out with full satisfaction of the end customer.
Hereafter, photos and details of the pinch roll mounted at the Galbiati Group facility and ready for final testing.
